Ross is growing up so fast and making gains every day!
Hello all! It has been a long time since I have added anything to Letters to Ross! Sometimes I guess life just forces you to make changes and priorities get out of whack! Well at least my true and important priorities like my beautiful son Ross!
Ross April 2014
I have taken a new job son and have been so busy that it is hard to balance all of the things in our lives. I guess when I really think of it, spending real physical time with you is what is really what I'm doing anyway. Well Ross you have made so many advancements since the last time I posted on your blog. Let's see... you have been weaned off all of your seizure medicines and are doing well. Knock on wood! You started school last Fall and have mastered so many milestones that you could not do before. Sitting up all by yourself, crawling, learning cause and effect toys. Like the Leap pad in the picture. You may not know exactly how to use it but you sure can manipulate it to your needs. you aren't talking yet but you sure try and babble lots of sounds. You sure are a cute little guy and people just oooh and gooo over you whenever we go places together. Mommy says you get your good looks from me. I'm not so sure but I'd say you get your good looks from the both of us. Whichever, it is true, you are adorable! It seems like you change a little day after day. You make mommy and me smile and warm our hearts with your little laughs and the things you do! We look forward to every day and year ahead of us my little boy! We love you!
Daddy!

Hello All Ross' Rockstars and Ross fans all over the world! Sorry we have been on hiatus for the last few months. The nice thing about that is that we have a lot to share with you to get you all caught up on Ross' progress.

Ross,

My little Rockstar! Daddy loves you so very much and I am glad we get to do fun things together just the two of us! Although, mommy is a bigger Chiefs fan than daddy is and she was probably jealous of us. No not really but I am sure she would have loved to share this experience with us.
Here are some photos from the end of September where we got to go meet some of the KC Chiefs players at KFC! The great people at the First Down for Down syndrome & KFC had a meet and greet to promote the fundraising for the Kansas City Down Syndrome Guild's annual Step up for Down Syndrome walk! As you can see you were quite the little charmer getting kisses from a couple of the cheerleaders! You remind me of me at that age son. KC Wolf had quite a time with you as well. I thought he was going to jump on your kid cart with you and do wheelies in the parking lot. You got to meet four of the Chiefs players Branden Albert, Jeff Allen, Daniel Muir and Donald Stephenson! They were so nice and asked lots of questions about you which I answered. They even signed their autographs on your football for you to remember the occasion by. It was a really great time and did you know that you were made famous that day? How???? You were on television for the first time. KCTV Channel 5 news was there covering the story for the news at 10 p.m. We recorded it for you and you can watch it some day soon. If that were not enough, you were also in the KC Star newspaper too. I have lots of copies for you to see and cherish!
Ross to your mommy and I we are so very proud of you and you will always be our little Rockstar!

I Love you Ross!

Daddy

Big Red Barn Weston, MO. It was a beautiful day for everyone to enjoy!
Ross and Mommy snuggling by the great wall of pumpkins!

Mommy, I'm ready to go home now. I had too much fun and I need a nap!

Ross,

Hey little buddy, we had a really good time at the Big Red Barn family day with lots of other families from the KCDSG!
We all met in Weston, MO on September 9th, 2012 for a picnic and social gathering. There were lots of kids there and a lot of them have Down syndrome just like you! There were little babies and big kids too and a lot in the middle just like you! You seemed to have a really great time looking around and seeing all of the people because you smiled the whole time we were there. Well, at lease when you were awake. We do know how you like to take naps. You and mommy played in the pumpkin patch and I took some pictures of you two by the wall of pumpkins. You were so cute in your little Batman shades snuggling with mommy! While we were there, we saw lots of barnyard animals for the first time. There were horses, mules, goats, turkeys, sheep and all sorts of other animals for you to see. Well you might have seen a few because you were getting sleepy. It's pretty obvious from the last photo of you and mommy. You were just so happy to be in Mom's arms, all tuckered out after your big day! We want to say thank you to the Down Syndrome Guild of greater Kansas City for a fun filled afternoon at the Big Red barn. It was nice to get to meet so many parents and children from our extended family! See you all at the walk!!!

We Love you Ross,

Daddy

Ross' first walk...well he rolled with mom dad and lots of his supporters and friends! Ready to do it again this year!

Ross and friends who follow his blog!

Sorry that I have been on hiatus over the past few weeks! Trying to juggle lots of things right now and also get this video completed promoting our team, Ross' Rockstars and the annual Step up for Down Syndrome walk to help the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City! I hope that you enjoy the video. It was so important that I was able to share the first 22 months of Ross' life with you all. I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that without the support of the KCDSG, the resources and education that they shared with my family, we would not have known what to do trying to raise a child with Down syndrome. I'm sure we would have figured it out but with the KCDSG's resources that they provided to us, we were better prepared for what was ahead once Ross arrived. It's not just our family that benefits from KCDSG. Their outreach programs touch the lives of over 1100 families, 45 school districts and 22 hospitals in the Kansas City metro area. Special seminars for teachers, therapists, parents and the general public helps educate and raise awareness on many issues affecting individuals with Down syndrome. The KCDSG also sponsors programs for our children and adults in the metro area such new parent breakfasts, sign language classes, Prom Night, Siblings night out, STARS program for teens, many community sub groups and  events to bring together our extended families.
So I am trying to pull at your heartrstings with Ross' amazing video celebrating his accomplishments and also tug at your purse strings to help support the KCDSG and all who benefit from their programs. Please watch this video and see what these services have done to help Rebekah and I be the best parents we can be to Ross and see him through so many challenges. Challenges that are shared by many people with Down syndrome. If you would like to join our walk team please see the registration site at the link provided below. For a twenty dollar donation before September 28th, you will be an official member of Ross' Rockstars walk team and receive a t-shirt with Ross' Rockstar name on it. Donation of twenty dollars after September 28th will still get a t-shirt but it will not have Ross' name on it. See photo below of this years shirt.Or if you would just like to make a donation their is a place at the bottom of the team registration to do that as well. Anything you can do to help is appreciated.

Here is how to register for Ross' Rockstars team or make a donation! Please come join us!
